In my past few blogs, I have written about God's unconditional love for us. In the blog "What My Purity Means", I discussed how we were made in God's image and how once we confess our sins, He makes us pure through His unconditional love. But what is this "unconditional love"? How much does God really love me? What is God's perfect love? Once I began my walk with Christ, I found myself asking these questions, and then after going to bible studies at my church, I found out that I wasn't the only one who had these types of questions. I've watched services and videos where ministers kept using the word "unconditional" to describe God's love, so God placed this on my heart to partake in a deep search in what "unconditional" love means. IntroductionWhat it Really MeansUnconditional means (with) no condition, which can also be translated to "no barriers".
Man has created barriers for love. They've decreased love to flowers and candy, a kiss every now and then, and even a ring to promote deep intimacy and commitment. But God created love. He is the author of love, so there are no barriers with the creator. God first showed us love when He made the Heavens and the Earth in Genesis. He created His plan with a list of names and purposes that would follow. Each of us are destined and designed to be here. Every battle we face is for a higher calling. God is the author of love, so therefore He is the author of our lives. With His list, He knows that we will commit sin, for He sent HIS ONLY SON to die on a cross for the sins that we haven't even committed yet. (Romans 5:8) If that love contains barriers, then I don't know what love doesn't. When I worship, I worship with no barriers. Like I said before, man created barriers and to worship with no barriers means truly getting in His presence. This is why I am blessed with the opportunity of belonging to a non-denominational church where worship has no boundaries. I try to stay away from religion, for there is nothing wrong with religion, but religion enforces barriers that limit me from truly getting in the presence of God. I am not in favor when people call me "religious" because I am not religious. I am spiritual, for Jesus is spiritual and to get to Father I must follow His son. Many many many times in life, we as every day sinners act fleshly and carnal. But God forgives us each time we become out of line because of His love. His unconditional love for us expans more than our common knowledge. He forgives us when we shouldn't be forgiven. He loves us when we shouldn't be loved. Many people search this world for love not knowing that this existence is temperary and there's a higher calling for us with a deeper love that no man could ever give. He promises us fresh starts when we should be in our graves. His love goes beyond sending His son to die for the selfish sins we commit. Tell me, would you give your child or a loved one to be crucified on a cross for people who are not deserving? When I was going through a tough time in my life: low self-esteem, depression, etc, God brought me through because He longed to see the greatness and purpose He placed in me brought out. I criticized His work, His art, His image, (my body, face, etc), every single day, but He still loved me despite my faults. Every night when I wished God would take me from the misery, He could've taken my word seriously and taken me, but He didn't because He loved me just enough... to see me shine. God loves His children. You may not believe it, but He does. Every time you look in the mirror you see God's unconditional love. How? You're better than you were yesterday. He allows you to grow. He nurtures you. He walks with you. Every time you are going through a battle, you see God's unconditional love. How? Because that particular battle is shaping you into the believer you are designed to be, and you get through it with a stronger mindset then you had before the battle. You could've died during it, but God loved you so much that He had greater plans and testimonies for you. You carry Him in your heart. He's there. He's the source of your heartbeat. All you have to do is believe. Believe that there is a love beyond this world's. Believe that you have a Father that desperately wants to see the light in you glow. Believe that there is a higher calling on your name in HIS name. We don't have to wear fancy rings and carry expensive flowers to show His love for us. All we have to do is wear a little something called faith on our hearts, and that is just enough because the winds of faith are boundless. It's time for us believers to have an unconditional relationship with God. We shouldn't place Him in a tiny hole somewhere in our hearts and minds and only bring Him out when needed. We are an image of Him. The spirit of God should be visible on us. We must stop putting barriers on the love of God. It's just too powerful. His love should be embedded on our hearts and our souls. We are letting man dictate our relationship with the Father. I see it every single day with my peers. So many times I've seen people trying to look like they're in a relationship with God instead of actually putting in an effort. God deserves so much more than that. I'm supposed to be dead somewhere six feet deep, but God promised me, who hated myself and my body, a fresh start to become the woman I am today. He was patient when I couldn't stand to look at myself in the mirror, and it took two long, dreadful years for me to finally figure out that I had a purpose. His love is unconditional. Everything about it is unconditional. That is why I've dedicated my life to be an example and a living witness of His unconditional love. I am what it looks like. You are what it looks like. He's planted a seed in me and He pours grace and favor on it every single day. The roots are the unconditional love that He gives. Every day I seek, the roots get stronger and stronger, and my soul gets brighter and brighter. So, no. Do not call me religious. What I've seen and witnessed are far beyond barriers. I am a seed of Christ, I desire His foot steps. I want to be more like Him every single day I live. I am spiritual; a spiritual being living a natural experience. This life is all temporary, but I'm living my best life through Him. I'm seeking Him every day so when the day comes when God calls me home, I won't be a stranger. His unconditional love is an anchor that grounds me and inspires me to keep living. So on this earth, we believers should love. 1 John 4:8 says, "Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love." We must walk this earth being a projection of God's unconditional love. People should see a glow every time you walk into a room. They may say something like, "There's just something about you," or "You just have this glow,". But take note, it is now you who is glowing, but it is the God inside you who sends His unconditional love through you to shine. This life isn't about you. It is about His plans and purpose for you. Take His unconditional love with you everywhere you adventure. Embrace it and create a relationship with Him and His love. Thank you, God, for giving me another chance at life to be the believer, the vessel, and the lover you designed me to be. My heart is now yours, and I am in awe of the blood that flows. |
